In1857, the wildlife conservation law was initiated by Louisiana. The agency initiated to regulate oyster. In 1909, it was handed the task of wildlife and fisheries conservation of Louisiana. This was the period when the Louisiana board was called for the conservation of birds, fish and game. In1912, the Louisiana commission formed a state government department with an aim to provide protection of birds, wild quadrupeds, forestry, fish, shellfish and various other mineral resources. In 1944, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries was legally created and became Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Commission in 1952.
