LOUISIANA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE AND FISHERIES

Louisiana Department of Wild Life and Fisheries is responsible for maintaining the natural resources comprising of both, wildlife and aquatic life. In1857, the wildlife conservation law was initiated by Louisiana. The agency initiated to regulate oyster. In 1909, it was handed the task of wildlife and fisheries conservation of Louisiana. This was the period when the Louisiana board was called for the conservation of birds, fish and game. In1912, the Louisiana commission formed a state government department with an aim to provide protection of birds, wild quadrupeds, forestry, fish, shellfish and various other mineral resources. In 1944, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries was legally created and became Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Commission in 1952.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries has introduced a regulatory agency. This agency imposes laws on hunting, boating and fishing. The agency works like a warden and has a number of responsibilities such as conducting health inspections on the commercial fishing industry of the state. The agents of this department are well trained to conduct search as well as rescue operations in remote land areas as well as on the waterways of the state.
